Music Education, Is It Important?
Music has been one of the stabilizing factors in both of our lives and we are determined to promote music education through our stores. Both Kathy and Steve have been actively involved with music education for many years. Kathy has taught both in public and private schools. She has also taught piano and flute privately for many years. Steve has been active in both private teaching and in teaching group keyboard lessons for adults in a music store setting for many years.
Music in Society
As a society it is sad to see that music has become an optional activity for children. Research has shown that learning to play a musical instrument promotes brain activity and development at an early age. It also has been shown to help increase reading and math skills and promotes social skills , such as social interaction and public speaking , by using recitals and concerts. However, we believe that those are the extra benefits of learning music. The main goal is for you or your child to have a fun and rewarding hobby. We believe the aim should be that all students, young and not as young, should have the opportunity to experience the thrill that music has to offer.
